Gibson This 1962 J-45 slope-shoulder dreadnaught beauty has now been returned to active service after extensive professional crack and brace repairs, plus bridge replacement. It still has the original finish on its solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, though the finish has faded considerably over the years from its original reddish hue, and also has a considerable amount of checking...but overall, it looks pretty doggone good! This guitar still has its original Kluson Deluxe tuners, and comes with the original brown alligator case, in good shape. The frets are freshly milled, and the setup and playability are excellent, as is the sound quality...this has become a very nice guitar indeed! Call for an in-hand description... VG, OSC photo
Harmony 1960s H162 Auditorium model, natural spruce top, mahogany back and sides, all original, Brazilian rosewood pin bridge, some neck bow, but plays fine, sounds good, looks clean, VG, SC photo
Martin This 1976 D-35, with a natural solid spruce top and solid Indian rosewood sides and 3-piece back, is a really sweet playing, nice looking guitar, which also includes a Fishman Matrix pickup system. The original Grover Rotomatic tuners still work perfectly. The original nitrocellulose lacquer finish has the usual complement of teeny dings and scratches, some checking, and a couple of small back finish cracks, but looks very clean, overall. The outer panels of the three-piece back have some nice figure that almost looks Brazilian...could be, as this was the model Martin created to be able to use their narrowest pieces of Brazilian rosewood, and instruments using this exotic wood turned up well into the '70s. The neck has the typical Martin "ski jump" on the fingerboard extension, which in no way interferes with its excellent playability. Call for an in-hand description of this great-sounding instrument! Seagull Guitars are made in Quebec, Canada, and are premium instruments with solid cedar or spruce tops, easy-playing necks, great tone, distinctive body shapes, and gloss or semi-gloss finishes. Any model not in stock may be special-ordered. Mendocino Music includes a free hardshell case with every Seagull guitar!
Seagull Coastline Cedar Gloss Top, slope-shouldered dreadnaught body, natural solid cedar top with high-gloss finish, laminated dark-stained wild cherry back and sides with semi-gloss finish, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, sealed tuners, 2 year warranty, a beautiful and great-sounding instrument! NEW, HC, list $552 photo
Seagull Coastline Cedar 12 String, slope-shouldered dreadnaught body, natural solid cedar top, laminated dark-stained wild cherry back and sides, semi-gloss finish, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, sealed tuners, 2 year warranty, sounds like a full orchestra, and may be tuned low or to concert pitch if desired! NEW, HC, list $562
Silvertone 1960s Auditorium size, by Harmony, sunburst spruce top, birch back and sides, pin bridge, straight neck, plays fine, looks good, all original, a few small scratches and dings but no other issues! VG+, SC photo
Silvertone 1960s auditorium size, by Harmony, reddish mahogany-stained solid birch top, back and sides, movable bridge with trapeze tailpiece, playing wear and scratches, some neck bow, but plays OK, VG, SC
Stella 1960s auditorium size, by Harmony, sunburst birch top, birch back and sides, pin bridge, straight neck, good action, surprisingly good tone, repaired chip on side of headstock, otherwise very clean, VG, SC photo
Stella 1960s 3/4 size, by Harmony, sunburst birch top, birch back and sides, w/faux-flame grain, tailpiece with moveable bridge, straight neck, good playability and tone, a couple of small dings, but overall pretty clean, and definitely cool! VG, SC photo
Taylor This 1996 Taylor 301 Baby is from the original generation that was constructed using genuine American Mahogany for the back and sides, with a perfectly-grained solid spruce top. The word "Baby" is stenciled across the headstock. It has an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and original sealed mini-tuners. This particular instrument was selected when new from a dozen similar ones as having the very best and loudest tone. Some very minor playing wear is the only thing preventing this guitar from being called dead mint. Sure, you could buy a new one for $50 less than what we are asking for this one...but it probably wouldn't look or sound as nice, and it certainly wouldn't include the original Taylor hardshell case that this one comes with! NEAR MINT, OHC photo
Taylor This 1996 Taylor 814-C Grand Auditorium cutaway has beautiful Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a perfect, narrow-grained, Sitka Spruce top, with lots of cross-grain "silk." The one-piece mahogany neck has no "Frankenstein' joint at the headstock, and has an ebony fingerboard with abalone inlays, and original Grover tuners. This guitar was truly the "pick of the litter," in its first year of issue, and, best of all, it has no outmoded pickup system cut into its side! And, oh yeah, it sounds fantastic, with a nice fat bass, and clear mids and treble, using light-gauge strings, with a nice low action. It's in dead-mint, factory-perfect condition, and has its original brown hardshell case...a future collectable, that's a real bargain now! MINT, OHC photo
National Reso-Phonic Triolian, steel body with brown sunburst painted finish, single 9-1/2" biscuit cone, 14-fret round maple neck with slotted headstock, sounds and looks great! This is a reissue (with modern improvements) of the very first single-cone metal-bodied guitar made by National in 1929...it's constructed of lighter-gauge steel than the Delphi, so is considerably lighter, also because of the slightly shorter body shape of the 14-fret model. NEW, TKL OHC, list $2500, photo
National Reso-Phonic Vintage Steel Delphi, steel body with satin nickel plating, single 9-1/2" biscuit cone, 12-fret round mahogany neck with slotted headstock, sounds loud and bright, for a great Delta-blues tone...this plating looks very cool, and will age to attain a vintage appearance! NEW, TKL OHC, list $2600, photo
National Reso-Phonic M2 Mahogany, all-mahogany body, single 9-1/2" biscuit cone, 12-fret round mahogany neck with solid headstock and pearloid overlay, MOP diamond shaped fingerboard inlays, satin nickel plated coverplate, a really beautiful instrument! NEW, TKL OHC, list $2500, photo
National Reso-Phonic Vintage Steel ResoRocket, steel body with satin nickel plating, solid headstock, pearloid overlay, rounded cutaway, tricone-style grillwork instead of f-holes, and a custom-designed cover plate...this guitar looks even cooler than the Vintage Steel Delphi, and offers a lot more access to the higher frets...and it's positively the loudest guitar that National makes! NEW, TKL OHC, list $3200, photo
National Reso-Phonic El Trovador, Mike Dowling signature model, mahogany body, slotted headstock, single 9-1/2" biscuit cone, long scale 12-fret round neck, nickel plated coverplate...a reissue of the highly desirable '30s model, with the deeper body and lower waist, this guitar has a HUGE sound with a deep, full bass! NEW, OHC, list $3200, photo
National Reso-Phonic Vintage Steel Tricone, steel body with satin nickel plating, three 6" cones with satin nickel plated art-deco coverplate, 12-fret round ivoroid-bound mahogany neck, with slotted headstock and ivoroid position markers...this is an updated version of the first instrument made by National in 1927! NEW, OHC, list $3000, photo
Fylde This recent cittern-style "Octavius" mandolin was made in Cambria, England, by famed luthier Roger Bucknall, who also builds guitars and other mandolin-family instruments, and has a clear, bright tone, with a low, easy-playing action. It has lustrous mahogany back and sides, and a beautiful flat cedar top, with an oval soundhole. It is equipped with original Gotoh sealed tuners, a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and an engraved nickel plated tailpiece, and sold new for over $1800...it is now priced to sell, and is certainly an extreme bargain! front photo back photo EX, HC
Airline 1950's, made by Kay for Montgomery Ward, 16" wide acoustic archtop with f-holes, sunburst finish, bound fingerboard, neck "reset" with bolt through heel...plays well, though! pickguard is missing, some scratches on top, replacement tuners, VG, SC photo
Hagstrom This 1976 "Jimmy" f-hole archtop, designed by famed luthier James D'Aquisto, has a beautiful natural maple 3" deep body, a maple neck with abalone-inlaid ebony fingerboard, an ornate tailpiece and ebony bridge, and two chrome-plated humbucking pickups. The tuners have been replaced, and the pickguard is missing, there are a few small dings and scratches, and filled screw holes from the tuner replacement. VG+, nice Gretsch HC w/lime-green lining, front photo
Kay 1950s 16" wide acoustic archtop with f-holes, sunburst finish, top and back binding, solid maple top with herringbone binding, flamed maple back, sides and neck...the top is badly scratched, but the back looks a lot better. The neck has some bow, and the neck angle has pulled up some, but is still very playable, with low action, very cool tailpiece, great sound, and no cracks! VG, SC photo
Old Kraftsman 1960s 16" wide acoustic archtop with f-holes, made for Spiegel catalog by Kay, "faux-flame" sunburst finish, probably birch body, original era Kluson Deluxe tuners, VG, SC photo
Old Kraftsman 1960s 16" wide acoustic archtop with f-holes, made for Spiegel catalog by Kay, "faux-flame" blonde finish, probably birch body, straight neck, replacement tuners, EX, SC photo

Acoustic Flat-Top Guitars
Applause This is one of the original Applause guitars, made in the U.S.A. by Kaman Music, the parent company of Ovation, from 1976 through 1981. It has the Ovation-style deep-bowl back, a spruce top, sealed tuners, and a composite neck with an aluminum fingerboard...this guitar would work well in a bar fight, or as an all-around, very durable, camping or travel guitar! It plays easily, and also has amazingly good tone, plus an added small pickguard, on the bass side of the soundhole. VG, OSC photo
